Parability Fest 2017

Parability Fest 2017

This year saw the second Parability Fest, once again run in partnership with Hampshire Islamic Outreach Society and Basingstoke College of Technology.
Whilst unfortunately not every stall holder made it to this year’s event, we did have much interest from organisations wishing to attend the event and since the event we have heard from some of those which did not make it that they would like to be included in Parability Fest 2018.

This year however saw a greater geographical representation of organisations from across Hampshire, for the first we saw organisation from our Andover area, those being Andover and District Mencap and the Princess Royal Trust for Carers in Hampshire. This year also included stalls from the Sports department at Basingstoke College of Technology, Basingstoke and District Disability Forum and Hampshire Islamic Outreach Society and English Conversation Group.

At the event students at the college had the opportunity to ask questions about the various organisations and what they had to offer, making them more aware of the diversity within the population and people’s various need.

Following a discussion with Hamza Berat from the Hampshire Islamic Outreach Society we will be looking to have next year’s event in a more public locations, one such location which has been muted is The Malls Shopping Centre.

We would like to thank all our stall holders for attending this year’s event, we hope that the Basingstoke and District Disability Forum manage to get some work experience students from the college as discussed at the event.
